Sound proofing a home should not be as hard as building a home from the foundation up.  There are many inexpensive ways to sound proof a home with carpet, drapes and curtains ... these things alone do not technically "soundproof a home" but reduce the amount of echo or reverberating noise.  To truly block outside noise or sound from another area in the house or outside of the home, a heavy, dense material needs to be used in conjunction with insulation and drywall. Creating more of an air space between rooms is a big help to reduce sound.  If you have excessive traffic noise, using a window plug can significantly reduce the noise.  Below are a some products we recommend to soundproof your home.
